Our founder Joshua is from right down the road ya'll! A 2005 graduate of Dutchtown High, Joshua is more than excited to share his love for movement with his entire hometown. Monroe has been attending GymFit as a homeschool student for about 7 years and has been an instructor for 3. She has been homeschooled until recently when she has started taking college classes. Monroe found her passion in several physical activities such as trapeze, acro, straps, gymnastics, and silks or pretty much anything that gets her up in the air as a flyer. One of Monroe’s favorite things to perform is duo silks with her twin sister. She hopes to help kids and adults find their passion in the circus life as well!
“My fitness journey began late in life at the age of 38 with the birth of my daughter. We knew she would be an only child and with no siblings to play with I knew I would need to get into shape to keep up with her. I never played organized sports and don’t have the appearance of a typical athlete. Because of this, I didn’t have any experience to guide me. Frankly, I didn’t know what I was doing. That all changed in 2014 when I was introduced to obstacle course racing. It was clear early on I was not the fastest guy out there, but I had potential completing obstacles. Since that first race, I’ve competed in over 25 races, making it onto the podium for many of them. My proudest achievement in obstacle course racing so far is qualifying to race in the 2021 Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) World Championships in the Green Mountains of Vermont this September. To help me prepare for this challenge I’ve been working with the current North American 3k OCR champion Veejay Jones and world renowned running coach Richard Diaz.”
“In 2018 my daughter and I were watching American Ninja Warrior and she turned to me and said “you can do that daddy”. I wasn’t sure I truly believed her at the time, but with her encouragement I applied and was accepted to compete on season 11 in 2019! Even though I performed well and was happy with my performance I was not satisfied. I applied again this year and was accepted to compete on season 13. What an amazing experience!”
“All of my work in obstacle course racing and competing on American Ninja Warrior have taught me many life lessons, but until now I haven’t had the opportunity to share these with others. I am so excited that GymFit has given me the opportunity to share some of these life lessons with the next generation of ninjas. I’m looking forward to working with your children as we work to find the next American Ninja Warrior right here in Louisiana!”
